Marge McDonald's PledgePage
Welcome to my pledge page. I hope you enjoy your stay.
This is my third year walking in the Avon 3-Day Walk for Breast Cancer. I walk because I want to make sure that my daughter, Rachel, and none of her friends ever have to hear the words "You have breast cancer" and that if they do hear them it will no longer be considered a life threatening disease. For those who don't know anything about me. I am 36 years old and have a very supportive husband Tom and a beautiful daughter Rachel who is 10 years old and in the fifth grade. I run the Burlington Council On Aging/Senior Center which has to be the funnest job in the world. I also go to Clark University in Worcester and I am working toward my masters in Public Administration. I volunteer as a walk leader (also my third year) for the Avon walk, and I am planning to lead walks twice a month. I also volunteer as a co-leader for my daughter's girl scout troop. I originally began doing this walk because I was looking for a challenge. I had been walking 20 miles in the Walk for Hunger in Boston, but it was getting too easy. I was thinking about a walking vacation, but couldn't see spending so much money to go on vacation without my family. I ran across a flyer about the 3-day. Since my mother had been diagnosed with cancer in 1998 and a coworker had died the same year, it was perfect for me. I still believe very strongly in the cause and truly hope that I will soon have no reason to do this walk. |
